How CMES Can Help

Organizations should have a comprehensive emergency action plan that is reviewed and rehearsed to ensure its effectiveness. Spontaneous emergency situations and critical incidents can be very chaotic. Chaos will be lessened when staff understands what to do if such situations were to occur. CMES Consultancy can provide guidance and oversight in developing or updating workplace safety and emergency action plans, as well as conducting training drills.

CPTED-based Site Assessment

CMES Consultancy can provide a site assessment to determine what CPTED (pronounced “sep-ted”) principles and risk mitigation strategies would enhance the overall resiliency and safety of your establishment.

CPTED (Community Policing Through Environmental Design) is a nationally recognized crime prevention strategy that aims to reduce opportunities for criminal behavior, and improve neighborhood vitality and quality of life.  The CPTED approach emphasizes natural surveillance, access control, territorial reinforcement, and design and management of space as principle crime prevention measures.  When applied properly and in conjunction with other risk mitigation strategies, CPTED can enhance real and perceived safety, and strengthen economic opportunities.

CPTED principles are not only utilized by law enforcement.  The principles are utilized by community stakeholders, business and institutional management, and architects during planning and design phases of buildings and spaces.

Corporate Emergency Action Plans

Critical incidents and emergency situations occur suddenly and sometimes without warning. The immediate response of those present during emergency situations, affects the overall outcome. Having an emergency action plan provides guidance to management and staff on how to respond during an emergency. Having an understanding of what to expect and how to respond to an emergency situation is vital to a successful outcome. It lessens chaos and increases the chance of survival.

CMES Consultancy can assist clients with developing an emergency action plan or updating an existing emergency action plan. The comprehensive emergency action plan will identify pre-planning strategies and appropriate responses to emergencies that will assist management and staff in getting themselves and patrons to safety.

Specialized Training Services

CMES Consultancy provides specialized training in emergency preparedness.

Training Sessions

Emergency preparedness training sessions focus on pre-event planning and risk mitigation, response to targeted violence situations and critical incidents, and post-event recovery strategies. Training sessions can be tailored to the needs of the client and delivered in a classroom/seminar setting, tabletop exercise, or scenario-based training format.

Emergency Action Training Drills

We also provide emergency action training drills. Having an emergency action plan and emergency response policies and procedures in place are important, but if the plans and procedures have not been rehearsed, their effectiveness and efficiency cannot be verified.  Failure to train and rehearse response procedures can unknowingly leave misinterpretation of written procedures unnoticed until a real emergency occurs. Those misunderstandings can lead to confusion, delay decision making, and add chaos to emergency situations.

CMES Consultancy can assist with ensuring that management and staff understand their roles and responsibilities during an emergency through specialized training drills. Workplace safetytraining drills will help develop confident and competent team members that will naturally respond to emergencies with rehearsed response options and procedures.

If your establishment already has an emergency action plan, we can assist with rehearsing your existing plan, assess the plan’s effectiveness, and provide recommendations for plan modification if needed.
